Do you need to move your business online?

With the UK government laying out their proposed next steps regarding the phased easing of the Coronavirus lockdown, it seems that some businesses may still be closed for some time to come. This comes as a knock to most business owners with the hospitality sector hardest hit with plans for them not to be allowed to re-open until 4th July- at the earliest! So, is there anything that these businesses can do in the mean-time to continue to offer their products and services whilst the lockdown continues?

Now is the time for business owners to look at any alternative ways that they may be able to continue serving their customers. Whilst this may not be possible for all businesses, there are certainly many that, with some changes to how they operate, can continue to offer some, if not all, of their products and services whilst unable to do so in person.

For retail store owners who usually sell their products exclusively from their bricks and mortar stores, they could be looking to introduce sales platforms on their websites to enable customers to continue making purchases. For restaurateurs who are unable to allow their customers to dine in their restaurants, they could be exploring takeaway services that they can offer either through their own website or via third party companies online.

Whether your business can find an alternative way of working through the lockdown or not, ensuring that your business has an online presence is a must. For those already running a company website and social media channels, changes and updates can be easily made. For those businesses without a website or a social media presence, their customers may be left in the dark and looking elsewhere!
